How to Manage Owning 4 Different Franchise Brands - Dan Claps, Christian Dadulak

Welcome to another episode of the ""I Fired My Boss"" podcast, hosted by Dan Claps and Christian Dadulak. In this episode, they have a special guest, Madeleine Zook, a multi-brand franchisee and serial entrepreneur. Madeline shares her journey into franchising, which began when she joined MaidPro as a marketing coordinator. Over time, she gained experience on both the franchisor and franchisee sides, building relationships and understanding the ins and outs of the business. With her husband already owning several franchises, Madeleine married into the franchisee side of the world and eventually became a multi-brand franchisee herself, owning four different franchise brands: home cleaning, exterior cleaning, closets, and pest control with MaidPro, FlyFoe, Men In Kilts, and Closetivity.

She also transitioned to the role of director of marketing at Netsertive, a digital marketing supplier for franchises. Madeleine discusses the benefits of being involved with emerging brands, such as the opportunity to help build operations and teach while doing, although she acknowledges the challenges and longer break-even period that may come with it. She emphasizes the importance of selecting the right franchisees during the early stages to ensure a good fit for the brand's growth.

Throughout the conversation, Dan, Christian, and Madeleine highlight the significance of networking and building relationships in the franchise industry. Madeleine shares a funny story about her husband getting ready to sign an FDD at a franchise event while she thought he was just having a drink at the bar. They also discuss the advantages and considerations when choosing between emerging brands and established ones. While established brands offer more community support and proven structures, emerging brands provide the opportunity to contribute to the brand's growth and can be a rewarding venture with the right mindset and commitment. Madeleine's experience as a multi-brand franchisee demonstrates the power of networking, relationship-building, and taking calculated risks in the franchise industry.
